Regional Manager, Community Organizer Richmond-Augusta

The SPLC is seeking a Regional Manager, Community Organizing who is committed to comprehensive justice reform!


The Regional Manager, Community Outreach will lead the Georgia State Office’s outreach, organizing, and capacity building efforts in Augusta-Richmond County, Georgia (consolidated government). The Regional Manager will engage with the community to understand their priority needs/issues and manage outreach efforts to ensure that all voters in the state have the information that they need to access the ballot, especially as voter registration rules and options for how to vote as they change.

The scope of the program is to build the civic engagement of women of color, 18-80 years old, and brand awareness of the SPLC to become a trusted partner, while focusing directly on engaging individuals in community, supporting accountability efforts, and executing on voter contact tactics that are culturally competent and appropriate to meet the needs of the communities that we serve to ensure that representation prioritizes the community’s needs.

Who You Are

Experienced. Demonstrated experience in social justice and civil rights work with the Georgia racial movement ecosystem, base building with broad coalitions, understanding of issues plaguing Black and Brown communities, experience with voter files and voter contact work, and commitment to racial, social, and economic justice, specifically in Augusta-Richmond County.

Knowledgeable. Expertise in 501(c)(3) voter contact tactics, including volunteer management, phone banking, voter education efforts, and canvassing.

People Manager. Experienced manager with proven success in leading, training, and developing teams. Clear communicator of goals and priorities of goals and priorities, organizational policies, and processes, keeping the SPLC’s best interest at the heart of all communications, decisions, and actions.

Advocate. Demonstrated experience in field organizing and management experience with increasing responsibilities that include, working with community organizations, grassroots campaigns, and impacted communities; particularly throughout the central western border of the state of Georgia.

Project Manager. Proven experience managing complex projects and campaigns in a flexible matrixed organizational model.

Efficient. Ability to effectively manage time while working in a fast-paced environment. Pivoting from one assignment or campaign to another to accomplish the desired goals.

Collaborative. Demonstrated ability to work with internal departments, external organizations, and stakeholders to execute specific strategies to advance the work of the Georgia State Office.

Communicative. Exceptional communication skills and ability to communicate persuasively to various audiences through writing and speaking.

Flexible. Ability to work and travel as needed.

Mission, Vision & Culture Alignment. Demonstrated awareness for SPLC's mission and vision; and a commitment to ideals of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion and fostering an anti-racist work culture and antiracist principles and learning.

What You'll Do

Manage a team of state organizers, while providing training and coaching.

Lead a powerful civic engagement operation, including volunteer, paid voter contact, focusing on activating and mobilizing voters.

Develop relationships and partnerships with local community members, allies, and execute a strategy to ensure SPLC has a presence in the Augusta-Richmond County area to engage with and continuously support the community.

Serve as the SPLC Augusta-Richmond County expert on all work being conducted by community and civic leaders.

Support advocacy and public education driven by community organizations and leaders.

Hire, train, and monitor staff performance and development, and conduct performance reviews.

Perform other duties as required or assigned which are within the scope of the duties in this job classification.

Minimum Qualifications 

We are committed to equitable hiring practices; therefore, you must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for the role.

  •       At least 5 years of field organizing experience;
  •       At least three (3) years of supervisory experience; and       
  •       High School diploma or GED.

Compensation & Benefits

This is an exempt role, and the minimum starting salary is $ 97,636.00 annually. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Where & How You'll Work 

This role the following work designations options:

  • Local Remote: Will work remotely but is expected to attend work-related activities that occur at the SPLC offices or in the states in which the SPLC operates. 
  • This position will work from Richmond County approximately 90% of the time.
  • This position will report to the Director, Georgia State Office.

Other Special Considerations 

This job is performed under general office conditions and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions.

Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
