GIS Administrator

By maintaining GIS servers, databases, and software, this role will enable our teams to efficiently collect, store, analyze, and visualize spatial data, supporting informed decision-making for engineering and environmental projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

    • Planning, designing, and maintaining enterprise GIS systems, both on-premises and cloud-based, ensuring scalability and efficiency. 
    • Managing GIS related servers, databases, software applications, and ensuring system performance and minimal downtime. 
    • Working with IT team to install, configure, and upgrade GIS related software. 
    • Developing and implementing security management and privacy requirements for GIS services. 
    • Overseeing GIS related data storage, organization, retrieval, and ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and efficiency. 
    • Assisting users with GIS related inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and documenting system configurations and procedures. 
    • Customizing GIS solutions, delivering presentations, and providing training on GIS software and models.
    • Working with internal and external teams to integrate GIS data with other systems and applications. 
    • Managing GIS and data tasks for various projects, ensuring compliance with standards. 
    • Creating custom GIS tools to automate workflows and optimize data processing. 
    • Verifying and reviewing GIS system related documents and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
    • Working with vendors and IT teams to support and troubleshoot GIS systems. 
    • Staying abreast of GIS industry trends and best practices and recommending system improvements. 
    • May perform other duties associated with this role. 

Qualifications for this role:

    • Bachelor's or master's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field is a plus. 
    • Typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience with proficiency in administering GIS systems.
    • Proven experience as a GIS System Administrator or similar role.
    • Proficiency in Esri GIS software, such as  ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Online. 
    • Strong knowledge of GIS databases and data management techniques. 
    • Experience with system administration tasks, including administering Esri accounts, license management, server management, network configuration, and security protocols. 
    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
    • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with team members. 
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
    • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams. 
    • Valid driver’s license.
