GrowthX AI is seeking a Copy Editor & Proofreader who excels at refining written content for clarity, style, and impact. In this role, you’ll be the final set of eyes that ensures every piece of content—whether AI-generated or human-created—meets the highest editorial standards. Your meticulous attention to detail will directly influence the quality and credibility of deliverables for GrowthX AI’s diverse set of clients.

Note: This is a fully remote role. We do request some overlap with U.S. Pacific Time (at least 4 hours) to collaborate with team members.

The Role: Copy Editor & Proofreader

As Copy Editor & Proofreader, you will collaborate with writers, content strategists, and AI specialists to polish copy across various industries. You will ensure tone, style, and consistency match client brand guidelines while also identifying opportunities to enhance readability and clarity. A keen eye for grammar, syntax, and factual accuracy is a must.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Editing & Proofreading (50%)
    • Review content produced by in-house writers, freelancers, and AI workflows for grammar, punctuation, and style consistency.
    • Suggest rewrites or adjustments where needed to refine clarity and impact.
  • Style & Brand Consistency (20%)
    • Maintain brand-specific style guides for multiple clients across diverse niches.
    • Ensure content aligns with the client’s voice, audience, and objectives.
  • Collaboration & Feedback (15%)
    • Work closely with Managing Editors to provide constructive feedback on content submissions.
    • Collaborate with the Automation Team to refine AI-driven editing tools and processes.
  • Quality Control & Verification (10%)
    • Double-check factual information and data points for accuracy, flagging any discrepancies.
    • Ensure all links, references, and citations adhere to client or industry standards.
  • Process Optimization (5%)
    • Document best practices, new tools, and editorial approaches to improve overall efficiency.
    • Stay updated on evolving language usage, style guides, and AI-based editing features.

Key Responsibilities & Skills Needed

  • Strong Editing Background
    • Demonstrated expertise in copy editing, proofreading, or related editorial roles.
    • Familiarity with common style guides (AP, Chicago, MLA, etc.).
  • Attention to Detail
    • Ability to spot inconsistencies in grammar, punctuation, voice, and formatting.
    • Capacity to handle multiple revisions under tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.
  • Communication & Collaboration
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Comfortable providing both direct and nuanced editorial feedback.
  • AI Fluency
    • Willingness to learn and work with AI-driven editing and proofreading tools.
    • Experience using AI or automation software is a plus, but training will be provided.
  • Time Management
    • Organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively within multiple client workstreams.

Nice to Haves

  • SEO & Keyword Knowledge
    • Familiarity with SEO-friendly copy and the ability to seamlessly integrate keywords.
  • Creative or Technical Writing Experience
    • Experience editing a variety of formats, from technical documents to marketing copy.
  • Additional Language Skills
    • Ability to edit or proofread in another language is a plus, given our global clientele.
  • Design Collaboration
    • Some understanding of how text pairs with design elements (Figma, Adobe Suite) can be beneficial.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of professional experience as a Copy Editor, Proofreader, or similar role.
  • Strong command of English grammar, spelling, and style conventions.
  • A bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Reliable internet connection and capacity to overlap with U.S. Pacific Time (4 hours minimum).
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
