So, what’s the role?
We’re looking for an Accounts Payable Accountant to manage our payment processes and ensure accuracy and timeliness in processing invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments. This role plays a key part in maintaining strong vendor relationships while also supporting financial close processes through reconciliations and journal entries. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable collaborating with both internal teams and external vendors.
A day in the life could include:
Reviewing and verifying invoices for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Entering invoices into the accounting system and ensuring timely payments.
Properly coding invoices to the appropriate accounts and routing them for approval.
Maintaining and updating vendor records, including tax documentation.
Processing and reconciling payments via checks, ACH transfers, and wire transfers.
Supporting the purchase order process and ensuring compliance with vendor contracts.
Addressing vendor inquiries and resolving payment discrepancies.
Reviewing and processing employee expense reports to ensure policy compliance.
Managing the corporate card program, including onboarding/offboarding employees and adjusting spending limits.
Reconciling accounts payable sub-ledger to the general ledger.
Preparing journal entries for cash, prepaid expenses, and accruals during financial close.
Performing monthly cash reconciliations and reviewing AP activity reports for accuracy.
Ensuring tax compliance, including preparing and distributing 1099 forms.
Maintaining accurate documentation for audits and financial reporting.
Identifying and implementing opportunities to streamline AP processes.
Acting as a subject matter expert in vendor data management during financial system transitions.
I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred).
2+ years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting.
Prior experience in public accounting is a plus.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Workday, Netsuite, Airbase) and Excel/Google Sheets.
Knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
