Technical Proposal Writer (Remote, select US states)

We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented Technical Proposal Writer to compose compelling technical narratives that reflect our mission, past work, and capabilities in response to opportunities across our focus areas and business goals.

The Technical Proposal Writer is a critical part of the Growth department. In this role, you’ll write clear, concise technical content for proposals based on a deep understanding of Coforma’s capabilities, experience, and expertise, as well as our customers and their users’ needs. Through a combination of techniques, including interviews and desk research, the Technical Proposal Writer will develop clear, complete, and compelling proposals against known requirements.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is a skilled communicator with excellent writing skills and a knack for specificity in their writing. You have prior working knowledge of the Federal government contracting space and thrive in bringing together multiple ideas, voices, and perspectives in a unified, compelling, and compliant narrative.

$117,420 to $143,170 Annual Salary + Benefits + Growth Potential
Placement within this range will be based on the competency level of the candidate. An offer will be made at one of the following tiers:

Tier 1: $117,420 — Meets minimum qualification/experience requirements. Beyond onboarding, will need additional guidance and training to perform key responsibilities of the role.
Tier 2: $130,810 — Experienced and fully-competent. Beyond onboarding, can independently perform key responsibilities of the role.
Tier 3: $143,170 — Highly experienced and can perform all responsibilities of the role at a higher level than expected once onboarding is completed.

To honor our company-wide equitable pay system, the posted salary range and corresponding tier salaries are non-negotiable.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

    • Craft consistent, readable, and compelling proposals: Maintain consistency in writing by following processes, policies, and style guides, working with partners on our MarComms team to ensure brand cohesion and alignment.
    • Contribute to and manage the proposal library: Familiarize yourself with the history of our opportunities, develop a clear understanding of our ecosystem, and contribute content to our proposal library including documentation and process guides, past performance write-ups, graphics and visuals for proposals, and more.
    • Cross-functional collaboration: Partner closely with colleagues on the Growth team and across the organization in Design, Engineering, MarComms, and more, interviewing subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand their capabilities and skill sets and performing desk research to support proposal development for all our focus areas.
    • Ensure compliance: Perform detailed analyses of RFI/RFQ/RFP requirements and collaborate with proposal team members throughout the proposal lifecycle to ensure it is cohesive and compliant with clients' requirements and expectations.
    • Optimize proposal writing and management processes: Review our internal technical project documentation, past performance library, and other sources, and implement improvements using feedback from colleagues, SMEs, client debriefs, and external Coforma stakeholders.
    • Continuously improve your skill set: Study industry best practices for proposal writing and engage with mentors within Coforma and externally to enhance your proposal writing skills and fine-tune our approach.

Who You Are (Requirements)

    • You have at least 4 years of experience writing proposals in the federal government contracting space using a variety of writing styles (technical, editorial, informal, etc.) and can develop content in alignment with Coforma's business development voice and tone.
    • You have 2+ years of technical writing experience in an IT consulting, digital technology, or design services environment. 
    • You’re a strong writer and communicator with the ability to thoughtfully unify content and input from different sources and contributors into a cohesive, unified voice.
    • You have a strong understanding of and ability to write in plain language.
    • You have keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work on multiple proposals with varying deadlines and priority levels.
    • You’re a full-time resident of the contiguous United States who is legally authorized to work in the US now and in the future without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

    • Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and its application to proposals, specifically from a compliance perspective
    • Familiarity with and experience writing on a range of digital services including human-centered design, Section 508 compliance, cloud migrations, product management, and more
    • Experience using an RFP management/content management tool (Loopio preferred)
    • 2+ years of experience working on a remote team or remote freelancing

    • Internet: Will prioritize and maintain access to strong, reliable internet for the remote nature of our work, except when on vacation or holiday.
    • Security: Will keep the highest security practices to ensure privacy and security of Coforma and client information, given the nature of our work, even when on vacation.
    • Travel Flexibility: On request and with advanced notice, will attend in-person events such as meetings, workshops, and trainings as assigned for projects that require it.
    • Brand Representation: Will represent Coforma professionally and sincerely, modeling our Company Values in all interactions.
$117,420 - $143,174 a year

The salary range for this position is $117,420 to $143,170, in line with our company-wide equitable pay scale.
