Sr. Backend (Django) Engineer
We are a rapidly growing startup in the healthcare technology space, developing innovative software solutions to help healthcare providers and medical billing companies harness the power of AI for significant gains in efficiency and cost savings through workflow automation. We are seeking a talented Backend Django/Python Developer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain web applications using Django/Python.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create, test, and deploy scalable, high-performance software solutions.
- Support back-end development tasks, including implementing RESTful APIs and working with relational databases.
- Ensure code quality through best practices, unit testing, code reviews, and adherence to industry standards.
- Diagnose and resolve software defects, performance bottlenecks, and technical debt to maintain application stability and reliability.
- Actively participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and technologies.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices relevant to backend software stacks.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in designing and building products from scratch in a startup environment; a self-starter with strong ownership and independent task management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of professional experience, focusing on Python, Django, and RESTful APIs.
- Experience working with relational databases (specifically PostgreSQL), WebSocket, and AWS Lambda.
- Familiarity with Machine Learning (ML), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), GPT, and Prompt Engineering.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a globally distributed team.
- Experience with Docker and LocalStack.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
- Understanding of agile development methodologies and hands-on experience applying them.
