About the Team

As Nubank continues its global expansion and continues innovating, the internal controls landscape becomes increasingly complex. Nubank has developed a strong Risk structure across the 1st and 2nd line of Defense but it is important to continue reinforcing the principles across the company and ensure that our 1st line teams continue to be accountable and responsible for the risks taken.

On that basis, the Business Control Office team is continuing to grow by adding one more area of focus and hiring someone to help us elevate our compliance management within the 1st line of Defense.

 

About the Role

Regulatory compliance is a complex and a critical component of proper risk management which requires very specific expertise. The initial person joining as the head of 1st line Compliance would help us drive the regulatory agenda in the 1st line with clear accountability and responsibility, and start supporting prioritized teams who are facing regulatory challenges. 

It´s an IC position in the beginning with a global scope, with the opportunity to become a manager if the person has the ability to demonstrate how a team could help Nubank become more efficient and compliant with an increased level of support.

 

Key Responsabilities and Expectations

  • Understanding applicable regulations, and explaining/translating the need to the business according to the BU realities
    • Reading regulations and understanding their implications for the business, making sure requirements are fully mapped through the existing regulatory tracking process
    • Provide assessment to the 1st line through the discovery of regulatory requirements
    • Help the 1LoD to co-create and finalize e2e action plans to be compliant with applicable regulatory requirements, supporting Compliance 2LoD in the monitoring of the implementation of the requirements for new products/features and other regulatory requirements (e.g. 4966)
    • Aligning possible dependencies with other BUs and helping with prioritizations exercise of different bets. 
  • Coordinate and support on responses and data shared with regulators (BACEN, CVM, Banxico, SFC, etc) and external/internal auditors on relevant subjects, for both reactive and proactive interactions.
  • Support Compliance on the planning and coordination of inspection when they happen 
  • Empowering product teams with the knowledge and tools they need making compliance  a competitive advantage of the innovation process making it seamless under a targeted friction approach 
  • Performing regulatory assessment proactively for NP&F including the creation and follow up of action plans ahead of Defense assessments
  • Create appropriate timely reports for the leadership team to understand the full spectrum of regulatory risks

  • Fluent in English
  • Technical experience: Compliance
  • Ability to challenge the various Lines of Defense
  • Strong ability to prioritise
  • Ability to build strong relationships with all levels of the organization
  • Great communication skills (concise and clear)
  • Hands on and take ownership where possible
  • High level of independence/autonomy

Our Nu Way of Working
