Senior Project Manager (Remote - Ottawa Residents Only)

Reporting to the Senior Director, Portfolio Management & Strategic Planning, the Senior Project Manager will play a crucial role in planning, executing, and overseeing projects across various departments within our organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure project success and alignment with organizational objectives. 

This role requires a solid understanding of project management principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.  

Based on your level of experience, you will mentor other team members and play a leadership role within the PM-CoE on relevant initiatives.  

You Will:

    • Assist in developing project plans, defining scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and stakeholder expectations. 
    • Assist in task assignment, providing guidance, and facilitating communication to foster a collaborative team environment. 
    • Assist in identifying potential project risks and issues. Collaborate with the project team to develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans. 
    • Assist in allocating and managing project resources, including personnel, materials, and budget. Ensure optimalutilization to achieve project objectives. 
    • Support in tracking project progress, monitoring key milestones, and providing status updates to stakeholders. Contribute to the preparation and presentation of project reports. 
    • Assist in ensuring project deliverables meet quality standards and comply with relevant regulations. Participate in quality checks and implement corrective actions as necessary. 
    • Collaborate with the team to maintain open communication channels with project stakeholders. Manage expectations and address inquiries throughout the project lifecycle. 
    • Support in financial management aspects, including budget creation, expenditure forecasting, and monitoring project expenditures to ensure adherence to financial limits. 
    • Contribute to identifying areas for improvement within the PM-CoE and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Encourage feedback, analyze data, and collaborate with stakeholders to implement best practices. 
    • Lead programs and govern and manage portfolios within the PM-CoE 

You Have:

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience and diploma. 
    • PMP certification or equivalent project management certification. 
    • Minimum of 10 plus years of experience in project/program management, with exposure to the IT industry preferred. 
    • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, Jira, MS Project, Azure DevOps). 
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. 
    • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and adapt to changing project requirements. 
    • Experience in managing portfolios and providing governance to related portfolios. 
    • Ability to think critically and strategically. 
    • Leadership skills to effectively manage resources and workload autonomously. 
    • Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional project teams. 
    • Track record of delivering projects on time, within scope, and within budget. 
    • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
