In the role of Transportation Senior Business Systems Analyst, you’ll combine functional and technical expertise with business strategy aptitude to drive results for business partners, customers, and patients around the world.
Responsibilities
In this role you’ll be the expert technical resource for new projects or tasks required by the Global Logistics team and be responsible for:
- Delivering in-depth technical and functional expertise & direction in the selection, design, and engineering of applications to support transportation business needs (e.g., new solutions, enhancements, or maintenance of home-grown, SaaS, or configured enterprise tools). Identifying the best technology solutions to support business growth and productivity.
- Partnering with key stakeholders to define business case including problem statement, alternatives, cost/benefit analysis of alternatives and recommendation. Being highly knowledgeable of upstream and downstream processes, their integration touchpoints and potential implications. Proactively sharing data with others to help them make informed decisions.
- Leading local work team to design, engineer, and develop applications and processes through use of technologies. Understanding and solving business and technical issues (systems/process) while coaching/mentoring work team. Demonstrating core business systems configuration and customization expertise in one or more functions within a module; develops technical standards and test/validation procedures.
- Encouraging team members to utilize best demonstrated development practices and methodologies e.g. performance tuning optimization; Developing knowledge of other technologies to assist in support of area; Assisting co-workers and other areas with technology adoption; Mentoring others on approved technology standards and development of complex routines e.g. to access, transform, and load data; Sharing development skills with other team members to enhance overall team skill sets.
- Facilitating and driving process mapping sessions, challenging business stakeholders’ and end-users’ assumptions as needed to align technology solutions with business strategies.
- Hands on technical involvement to prototype, configure, and develop solutions as needed, or partnering with vendor partners to bring new tools into AbbVie. Ensuring the technical solution addresses the business needs.
- Driving project completion through Agile frameworks and collaboration with various internal & external groups. Develop project scope, objectives and resource estimates for small projects.
- Ensuring Compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures (on behalf of yourself as well as internal and external groups under your scope of responsibility), including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle. Ensuring ethics & integrity are engrained in the system design & development processes.
Tools and skills you will use or develop in this role:
- Knowledge of Advanced Supply Chain Visibility applications, freight tracking and booking systems, and temperature data tracking tools, among others (e.g.P44 & FourKites, Controlant)
- SDLC (systems development life cycle) process for the web development delivery including the deployment of code.
- Familiarity with SaaS environments.
- Vendor management and managing delivery releases.
- Code reviews for safety and compliance; best practices for a safe and controlled environment.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years technical experience, or master’s degree plus 4 years of experience.
- Knowledge of Advanced Supply Chain Visibility applications, freight tracking and booking systems, and temperature data tracking tools, among others (e.g.P44 & FourKites, Controlant)
- 1-3 years of experience operating, configuring, and/or integrating lead freight transportation management software (TMS) packages (e.g. SAP TM, MercuryGate, BluJay, JDA, Manhattan, OTM, etc.)
- Jira, Confluence, SNOW
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Demonstrated well-developed verbal and written communication skills (Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business teams as well as Ability to develop effective and compelling visualizations of key business and technology concepts.)
- Strong analytics background related to supply chain or operational KPI’s
- Must be deliverable-focused and detail oriented. Must have a strong customer focus.
Beneficial
- Experience working supply chain or operations teams; knowledge of logistics systems highly preferred.
- Work experience in the Pharmaceutical or Medical Device industry and working on GxP systems.
- System analysis, development, testing, and/or project management experience
- Leadership of cross-functional teams; experience working within a global environment in multiple time zones. Knowledge of outsourcing methodologies and operating models and working with professional services firms.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
