Job Description
Purpose:
As a recognized industry multidisciplinary expert, drives performance of a team of precision medicine leads in psychiatry by setting a strategic vision and achievable roadmap in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to inform the design and implementation of studies aimed to derisk, accelerate, or inform creation of new or improved drug products.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for direction and execution of the scientific strategy in alignment with cross-functional, cross-disciplinary goals and key scientific goals. Ensures achievement of set goals.
- Establishes scientific standards for excellence by collaborating with multi-disciplinary functional leaders and experts to integrate standards into strategies and tactics associated with development of new or improved products or technology.
- Leads scientific expertise within the function by mentoring and training colleagues. Proactively advises and shares knowledge and expert opinions with senior management.
- Delivers results that meet or exceed expectations of major project plans across function through sound design, early risk assessments, and implementation of fallback strategies.
- Anticipates challenges and continually sets approaches to utilize newly proven technology. Proactively establishes scientific standards within AbbVie.
- Anticipates and prioritizes emerging scientific trends. Champions the use of innovation sourced both internally and externally and formulates the innovations for widespread organizational use. Integrates innovation into objectives and ensure alignment with customer needs.
- Drives advancement of new products by pioneering and implementing breakthrough ideas and novel approaches that are valued by customers across the company. Creates institutional knowledge and patent strategy.
- Keeps identified stakeholders informed by presenting scientific concepts and results for functional and non-scientific leaders and potential and existing partners. Maximizes impact and value of expertise.
- Maintains an external reputation as multidiscipline expert and leads the industry as invited panelist to senior industry meetings or by authoring and reviewing high-impact articles for peer-reviewed, top-tier publications.
- Manages a team of 3-5 precision medicine leads responsible for asset and study level work, providing above-asset strategic vision and support the team to overcome institutional or technical barriers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Science or related field with 20 years or more of related work: Master's Degree in Science or related field or PharmD with 18 years of related work; PhD in Science or related field with 12 years of related work experience
- Proven ability to innovate with a history of successful new or improved product releases
- Ability to advise discipline experts and leaders within the function on how to manage their particular risks
- Interacts well with diverse groups and maintains a strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators
- Listens and understands others' point of views and articulates tactfully and respectfully one's own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations
- Interpersonal skills capable of negotiating and reconciling interdisciplinary differences, optimizing overall business goals

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
