Quality Engineer Architect

Role
We’re seeking an experienced Quality Engineer Architect to lead the design and governance of scalable automation frameworks. You’ll help shape StarCompliance’s quality strategy by promoting an automation-first mindset and aligning frameworks across product teams. Working closely with the Head of Quality, DevOps, and product architects, you’ll ensure CI/CD pipelines are built for efficiency and reliability in our Azure-native environment.

Responsibilities

    • Contribute code directly to shared libraries, tooling, and pipelines. This is a hands-on engineering role.
    • Architect and maintain the Automation Base Framework to ensure it is scalable, reusable, and consistently adopted across teams.
    • Lead test strategy design and governance across UI, API, performance, and end-to-end testing within Azure-hosted environments.
    • Define and enforce automation coding standards while ensuring alignment and compliance of product-level frameworks with the Base Framework.
    • Mentor junior automation engineers and manual testers, supporting their transition to automation and overall technical development.
    • Track and analyse automation metrics—such as coverage, scale, and Testing Triangle compliance—to drive continuous improvement.
    • Partner with DevOps to embed automation and quality gates into robust, repeatable CI/CD pipelines.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

    • Proven experience as a technical leader or architect in quality engineering, with a strong track record in automation strategy and team mentorship.
    • Expert in C#, with deep experience designing, implementing, and reviewing advanced test automation frameworks.
    • Hands-on expertise with the Playwright framework for both UI and API automation, along with strong end-to-end testing capabilities.
    • Skilled in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ideally within Azure DevOps environments.
    • Proficient in defining and analysing automation metrics to align quality efforts with business objectives.

Desirable Skills

    • Experience with Report Portal or similar tools for test reporting, visualization, and performance testing insights.
    • Line management or leadership experience, with a strong focus on coaching and mentoring others.
    • Working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Kanban, supported by relevant certifications such as ISTQB or Azure.
    • Background in the compliance or financial software industry is highly desirable.

    • Integrity and Ethics
    • At StarCompliance, we foster a culture of innovation, integrity, and continuous improvement. All employees are expected to adhere to high ethical standards and take accountability for delivering quality software that meets the needs of our clients in regulated industries.
