Position Overview
The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the clinical results communication team, ensuring efficient and compliant patient communication regarding abnormal lab results. This role includes managing registered nurses including staff schedules, approving time off, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring the team adheres to clinical and legal standards. The Nurse Manager is a key leader, driving the team’s operational success and patient care excellence.
What You'll Be Working On
Duties include but not limited to:
Team Management and Supervision:
· Scheduling and Coverage: Create and manage the team schedule to ensure adequate coverage, including on-call rotations. Adjust schedules as needed for operational demands and approve PTO and sick leave requests.
· Performance Management: Conduct annual performance reviews, provide ongoing feedback, and develop performance improvement plans when necessary.
· Training and Development: Oversee training programs for new hires and ongoing training for current staff, ensuring the team remains updated on compliance protocols and patient interaction best practices.
· Reviews KPI: including call audits
o TAT Adherence: 95% compliance in timely lab result communication.
o Clinical Escalation: 100% proper escalation of abnormal values.
o Patient Engagement: 90% compliance in follow-ups and communication quality.
o Training Compliance: 100% completion of mandatory training.
o Collaboration Documentation: 100% logging of collaborative efforts with the Clinical Conduct Team.
· Team Meetings: Lead regular team meetings to discuss updates, review team performance metrics, and address operational challenges.
Lab Results Management Oversight:
· Ensure the team receives, reviews, and communicates flagged abnormal lab results in a timely and compliant manner.
· Monitor patient communication processes to maintain a high standard of care, ensuring all staff adhere to scripts and protocols that align with clinical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
· Escalate critical cases to providers (NP/PA/MD/DO) and ensure proper documentation and review by licensed healthcare professionals.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
· Oversee compliance with regulatory standards, including HIPAA, state licensure requirements, and clinical safety protocols. Implement quality assurance measures to improve patient communication and documentation accuracy.
· Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to develop and implement new policies, ensuring the team remains compliant with evolving clinical and legal standards.
Administrative and Operational Duties:
· Manage payroll submissions, approve time-off requests, and maintain team member records.
· Conduct hiring and onboarding processes for new team members in coordination with Human Resources.
· Ensure proper resource allocation and manage inventory for remote team members, including technology and communication tools.
Physical and Travel Requirements
· This is a remote position with less than 10% travel requirements. Occasional planned travel may be required as part of the role.
· Remote Work: Full-time position with required flexibility to manage and oversee team operations and communications.
· On-Call Coordination: Participate in and manage the structured on-call system to ensure adequate team coverage during holidays and leaves.
· Compliance: Maintain all regulatory and clinical safety standards, ensuring the team adheres to company policies.
What You Bring
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in clinical nursing, with at least 2 years in a management or supervisory role.
Proven experience managing a clinical team, scheduling, and conducting performance evaluations.
Proficiency in using EMR systems (e.g., Salesforce) for patient documentation and team management.
Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Independent work style with a focus on collaboration and compliance.
Certifications/Licenses, Education, and Experience:
· Active RN license in a compact or non-compact state (BSN preferred)
· Compact States: RNs with compact licenses are required to cover multiple states, including Texas, Florida, and Colorado.
· Non-Compact States: Preference for RNs licensed in states such as California, New York, and Illinois.
