Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced adaptable problem solver to join our medical billing team. As a Medical Biller at Expressable, you will play a critical role in optimizing revenue collection and timely reimbursement for provided services. The medical billing team is responsible for all aspects of patient billing, invoicing, collections, reconciliations, managing payment plans, and charge disputes, with an ability to handle specialized billing needs such as vendor/grant and early childhood intervention (ECI) programs.

 What you would be doing at Expressable

  • Own patient collections/invoicing/billing, reconciliations, payment plans, and charge disputes ensuring timely resolution and adherence to company policies.

  • Coordinate and execute billing processes for new and transitioning clients including ECI, vendor, and partner programs.

  • Conduct regular client record audits to ensure accuracy and adherence to medical coverage policies, identifying any discrepancies or potential issues.

  • Calculate any applicable discount rates and manage account balances to discover outstanding debts or inconsistencies. 

  • Address and resolve insurance-related issues such as benefits, processing status, invoices, payments, and balances in a timely and professional manner through effective client communication.

  • Perform account follow-up, including investigating and resolving unpaid claims, patient collections, identifying trends, and implementing corrective actions to enhance revenue realization.

  • Monitor and analyze payer accounts receivable aging reports, including 120+ days, to prioritize and address outstanding balances, ensuring timely reimbursement. 

  • Manage past due client accounts, monitor payment plans, follow-up on client balances, and achieve goals for collection rates. 

  • Collaborate with billing team, providers, and insurance companies to research and resolve claim discrepancies, denials, and rejections, maximizing revenue collection.

  • Create and update information in electronic health records and CRM.

  • Properly escalate items needing attention and partner with accounting and finance teams to resolve complex AR and reconciliation tasks.

  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with company policies including HIPAA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements.

What you bring to Expressable

  • 3+ years of medical billing experience, with a strong emphasis on collections and accounts receivable (A/R) follow-up.

  • Demonstrated success reducing A/R days and improving collection rates.

  • Experience working with multiple payers (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) and handling claim denials and appeals.

  • Proficient in Apple products (i.e., MacBook) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Mail, Drive).

  • Hands-on experience with one or more EHR/EMR and billing software systems.

  • Comfortable using digital communication tools (e.g., Slack, Google Workspace) and cloud-based billing platforms.

  • Skilled in using spreadsheets and documentation tools to track claims and collection activities.

  • Experience with Salesforce or other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms.

  • Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote role.

  • Deep understanding of HIPAA, coding standards (CPT/ICD-10), and payer requirements.

  • Committed to handling sensitive patient information securely and ethically.

  • Ability to suggest or implement process improvements for billing workflows

  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills

  • Certification (e.g., CMRS, CPB, or CBCS)
