Job Summary
As a Marketing Strategist, you will play a key role in developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies across various channels, including performance marketing, SEO, content marketing, creative, social media, and product. Your primary objective will be to drive growth, enhance brand visibility, and attract high-quality clients for Toptal. Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Customer, Talent Operations, Business Analytics, Finance, Legal, and more, you will lead and execute innovative marketing initiatives aligned with our business goals.
Responsibilities involve creating and implementing strategies to increase lead generations, brand awareness, and engagement. You will work closely with the Marketing Strategy team to leverage insights from business analytics and market research, translating them into actionable tactics. Coordinating projects and campaigns, including ideation, content creation, launch preparation, and evaluation, you will contribute to the expansion of our client base. Emphasizing continuous improvement, you will launch new experiments and initiatives, collaborating with the Marketing Strategist to identify untapped opportunities. You will identify new opportunities to optimize conversion rates within each step of the funnel, bounce rates, click-through rates, traffic/user acquisition, and enhance the user journey in both the pre- and post-sign-up experience.
By evaluating internal and market data, gathering the best ideas from the Marketing teams, and understanding the capabilities that exist within Toptal, you will develop and implement the best marketing strategies, creative ideas, and tactics possible that will drive the greatest impact relative to the metrics you own. You will evaluate product improvements and examine other areas that could help drive stronger performance relative to those metrics. You are expected to be exceptionally analytical and creative in managing all growth strategies and tactics.
Major areas that you will oversee include SEM/SEO, growth hacking, viral mechanics, CTR/CRO optimizations, A/B testing, creative testing (across all channels - paid and organic) including sales collateral, social media posts, and copy testing for websites and ads. You are expected to be an expert in these areas.

Responsibilities:

· Identify and implement effective strategies to attract, engage, and convert high-priority leads for our client base.
· Collaborate with the Business Analytics and Market Insights teams to derive actionable strategies and tactics that benefit the Communication, Content Marketing and Product teams in their initiatives and projects.
· Coordinate projects and initiatives, including campaign ideation, content creation, launch preparation, and evaluation, to support the growth of our expanding client base and talent community.
· Launch new experiments and initiatives, incorporating iterative improvements, while working closely with the Marketing Strategist to identify emerging opportunities.
· Facilitate productive brainstorming sessions to generate novel ideas that push the boundaries of marketing to prospective clients.
· Identify, prioritize, and advance opportunities that drive the growth of lead acquisition and retention.
· Provide input on creative briefs and projects in the context of customer journeys and user personas, and ensure they are optimized relative to the channels that each brief or project will relate to.
· Provide strategic guidance for Growth Product and Performance Marketing, and help quantify and prioritize strategic directions and initiatives across all channels and stages of the user journey, including building out specific narratives that align with user/customer expectations.
· Leverage data-driven decision-making to continuously test, measure, and optimize marketing campaigns, including A/B testing, conversion rate optimization, and ROI analysis, with a focus on creative testing.
· Ensure that the maximum amount of growth hacks and tactics are maximally infused within all Marketing initiatives.
· Monitor and report on key growth marketing metrics and KPIs, providing actionable insights and recommendations to drive continuous improvement.
In the first week, expect to:
· Familiarize yourself with the organization’s operations, including OKRs, RACIs, and other operational frameworks.
· Undergo role-specific training to understand the procedures and tools currently utilized within our Marketing team.
In the first month, expect to:
· Gain a comprehensive understanding of the Marketing team’s dynamics and how they collaborate effectively with other departments.
· Identify optimization opportunities to enhance growth tactics, organizational dynamics, and marketing capabilities within the team, while exercising discretion and independent judgment.
· Understand the inner workings of the Marketing team and how they work effectively with other functions within Toptal.
· Initiate owning key initiatives and working with other functions in understanding the most effective way to move them forward.
In the first three months, expect to:
· Develop a strong understanding of how the Marketing team collaborates with external teams to achieve shared goals.
· Generate new campaign ideas, plan and launch new projects within your initiatives, focusing on analyzing the results, and implementing improvements.
· Earn the trust and respect of your colleagues and key stakeholders you closely work with.
In the first six months, expect to:
· Continue to generate and execute new ideas and marketing strategies at a rapid pace.
· Drive the launch of innovative initiatives and test new concepts, collaborating closely with team members to assess their impact.
In the first year, expect to:
· Demonstrate successful implementation and execution of several new marketing strategies and tactics.
· Become a go-to subject matter expert for Marketing Strategy, offering cross-functional insights and expertise.
· Attain a comprehensive understanding of all client-focused marketing activities and contribute to the overall marketing strategy.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· 8+ years of experience in marketing, driving initiatives, ideation, content creation, project management, execution, and evaluation.
· At least 5 years of professional experience with growth hacking, viral mechanics, CTR/CRO optimizations, A/B testing, creative testing, and SEO/SEM, specifically targeting B2B audiences.
· Proficient in classifying and understanding customer personas to create effective marketing strategies tailored to specific customer types.
· Possess a strong analytical and data-driven background with exceptional analytical thinking. Experience in campaign measurement and evaluation is highly advantageous.
· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as perfect grammar and command of the English language.
· Ability to communicate clearly and consistently with teams through collaboration tools such as Slack.
· You must have a best-in-class, analytical and data-driven background.
· Strong analytical thinking is required.
· Experience translating analysis into action is required.
· Expertise in marketing measurement and evaluation is a strong advantage.
· Experience with writing SQL queries is preferred.
