Responsible for the administration of first and third-party automobile and first and third-party property liability claims as well as sewer backup and GL property damage claims. This includes determination and evaluation of coverage, liability and damages within set parameters. Administer liability claims pursuant to company and State regulations to ensure claims are managed and settled in a timely and effective manner.


Key Responsibilities

  • Complete prompt, accurate investigation of liability claims; take recorded statements as necessary, and interview involved parties to determine loss facts and liability; handle all claims to final resolution with appropriate supervisor oversight.
  • Investigate auto property damage and minor third-party property damage claims.
  • Verify damages, assess exposure to determine the proper course of action and to appropriately negotiate and resolve claims within guidelines.
  • Interact extensively with various parties involved in the claim process.  
  • Handle claims consistent with client and company policies and procedures, as well as ethical, statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain system diary and keep up to date on a daily basis; maintain appropriate file reserves; issue payments as appropriate.
  • Document and communicate all claim activity timely and effectively to support the optimal outcome of assigned claims.
  • Ensure clear written and verbal communication with internal and external customers.
  • Identify and notify responsible third parties of their subrogation obligations to clients.
  • Present professionally prepared claims status reports and claim files reviews for clients as necessary.
  • Maintain current knowledge of laws and statutes, maintain CEUs and license in current status related to state in which handling claims.
  • Perform miscellaneous administrative/support functions as designated by supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Skills, knowledge & expertise

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices.  
  • Knowledge of Florida tort liability statutes.
  • Ability to successfully negotiate the settlement and disposition of claims, within authority limits.
  • Good communication, both oral and written. Good typing skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Team player. Good attendance.
  • Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and related claims and business software. 
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced position ensuring all policies and procedures are managed to expected timeframes
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A minimum of one year handling first- and third-party physical damage claims, property damage claims and general liability claims - with a consistent high level of performance and achievement.
  • A minimum of one year of office experience.
  • Active Florida All-Lines Adjuster License (5-20 or 6-20)
