KIP Summer 2025 - State Policies Intern - Marijuana Policy Project Foundation

The Koch Internship Program (KIP) is a paid, 10-week experiential learning program run by Stand Together Fellowships that offers meaningful work experience at non-profits all over the country tackling some of our nation’s most pressing challenges. Throughout your internship with a partner organization, Stand Together Fellowships hosts virtual professional development sessions every Thursday from 1-5 pm ET, wherein you will be mentored by seasoned professionals as you craft a capstone project on the topic that matters most to you.  Interns will receive either a $5,500 or $3,300 stipend from Stand Together Fellowships depending on whether they are participating full-time (40 hours/week) or part-time (28 hours/week).

MPPF is looking for an assistant for State Policies who is self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a small remote group setting. The assistant for State Policies will contribute to MPP’s mission of reforming cannabis laws and educating cannabis regulators, consumers, and state legislators. Under the supervision of the Director of State Policies, the assistant’s primary functions will include research and writing related to cannabis policy, and scheduling legislative meetings. This position requires real-time outreach and research with limited oversight. The assistant must be extremely detail-oriented and have excellent time management skills.

Responsibilities

    • Performing cannabis policy research and related writing, when needed for the Director of State Policies and other staffer
    • Updating a spreadsheet of legislators’ stances on cannabis policies
    • Scheduling legislative meetings
    • Possibly helping the State Policies with pressure tactics such as in-house calls, texting to constituents and supporters, and /or drafting letters to the editor
$5,500 - $5,500 a year
