Job Purpose
Data Quality and Governance (DQG) ensures our data is accurate and secure. They maintain data quality through continuous testing for outliers and monitoring of ETL processes on supported tables. They respond to data quality queries and requests for outlier reports. When required, they communicate issues to the appropriate users and stakeholders. They keep data secure by maintaining the metadata catalog and maintenance of individual user, role, and group permissions. They  create platforms for collaboration across the organization to ensure data security and compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

    • Install & Troubleshoot. The head of this team will be responsible for the installation and configuration of our data lake cloud providers. The individual is also the go-to person to resolve and help with system problems. The professional looks into the configuration and network security of the systems to make sure they are working correctly and they are up-to-date.
    • Implement & Integrate. The team monitors and analyzes the capabilities and performance of the systems. They compare, evaluate, and implement new technologies, and integrate systems into the computing environment. For the convenience of users, it is the team’s responsibility to document systems infrastructure.
    • Security & Strategies. They should assist with cloud server configurations, patches, and troubleshooting as needed. They also help to maintain system security strategies, policies, and procedures.
    • Quality & Reliability. They perform statistical tests on large datasets to determine data quality and integrity. They evaluate system performance and design, as well as its effect on data quality. They collaborate with database developers to improve data collection and storage processes.
    • Report & Document. They report data analysis findings to management to inform business decisions and prioritize information system needs. They document processes and maintain data policies.
    • Improve & Iterate. They adhere to best practices in data governance and quality and keep abreast of developments and trends.
    • In addition, the Head of Data Governance and Quality may be tasked to lead other special projects from the VP of Data or Chief Risk Officer.

Professional Qualification and/or Regulatory requirements

    • Leadership experience together with individual competence. Those who cannot code or debug on their own need not apply.
    • Minimum 1 year of experience as a head of a data governance team or related field (data quality, cloud administrator)
    • Experience using OpenMetaData or similar tools (Atlan, Alation) is a strong preference
    • Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, information management, or similar
    • Proficiency in programming languages, including Structured Query Language (SQL) and Python
    • In-depth knowledge of statistical methods and tests
    • Advanced problem-solving skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
