About the Role

This role requires expertise in backend development using Python and Golang, with a preference for candidates familiar with Node.js. Additionally, experience in DevOps, containerization, and AWS-based deployment is crucial. You will be responsible for building scalable backend systems, optimizing performance, and ensuring seamless deployment through CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development: Design, develop, and optimize high-performance backend services using Python and Golang.

• API Development: Build and maintain RESTful and event-driven APIs to support real-time data processing.

• Database Management: Work with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and other relevant databases for efficient data storage and retrieval.

• Cloud Infrastructure: Deploy, monitor, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS using best practices.

• Containerization: Develop and manage containerized applications using Docker and orchestrate with Kubernetes.

• CI/CD Pipelines: Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to automate deployment processes.

• Security & Performance: Ensure backend security, implement API authentication, and optimize system performance.

• Logging & Monitoring: Set up logging, monitoring, and alerting systems using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch.

• Collaboration: Work closely with frontend, ML, and data teams to integrate services effectively.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong experience in Python and Golang for backend development.

• Knowledge of Node.js is a plus.

• Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS, and IAM.

• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration.

• Proficiency in GitHub Actions and other CI/CD tools.

• Solid understanding of API development, microservices, and event-driven architectures.

• Experience with SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) databases.

• Strong knowledge of networking, security practices, and performance optimization.

• Experience in monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch.

• Familiarity with message brokers like Kafka or Redpanda is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with high-performance, low-latency systems.

• Understanding of DevSecOps best practices.

• Previous experience in financial markets, trading, or data-intensive applications.

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

This is a part time role (20 hours / week). Candidates must be able to attend standup meetings at 10am EST and be available during the following working hours. This role is not for 2025 / summer positions.
