Key Responsibilities
Controller for multiple Family Office clients:
- Develops accounting procedures and recommends changes
- Responsible for client engagements: ensure timely and accurate execution of daily accounting, provide valuable insights, and maintain outstanding client satisfaction
- Timely communication with clients and team members on a daily basis
- Oversight, management, and coaching of multiple bookkeepers and accountants
- Preparation of financial statements and customized reports
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
- Communication with clients on financial performance and recommendations
- Troubleshoot accounting and technology/software issues
- Preparation/review of month end and year end workpapers
- Fill-in bookkeeper as needed
- General Ledger maintenance
- Work closely with clients in facilitating payroll and payroll tax reporting
- Handle all record keeping of investments in accounting system (Brokerage, Private Investments, Real Estate, etc)
- Verify & Oversee distributions received from Private Investments/Alternatives
- Possibly Execute capital calls for Private Investments/Alternatives
- Posting of monthly journal entries
- Reconciliation of bank accounts
- Reconciliation of all Brokerage Investment accounts (possibly oversee integration of such data)
- Prepare annual 1099s and recurring sales tax returns
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- 10+ years in the Accounting Industry
- 5+ years in a role managing clients and staff
- Strong understanding of Investment Accounting (Brokerage, Alts, etc) experience preferred
- Client Accounting experience preferred (ex: CPA Firm)
- Sage Intacct experience preferred
- Experience managing multiple clients/projects at the same time
- Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
- Strong attention to detail and willing to get your hands dirty
