We are seeking a Junior Business Analyst to join our Commodities tribe and play a key role in the acquisition of high-value external data. In this role, you will be responsible for gathering, analysing, and documenting requirements for data scraping projects that extract critical information from a wide range of sources including websites, APIs, PDFs, Excel files, and CSVs.

This data supports multiple business units across the company, and your work will directly contribute to delivering actionable insights in the commodities space.

Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into clear scraper requirements.
    • Analyse data sources (websites, APIs, structured files, documents) and determine the best extraction approach.
    • Define and document user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows.
    • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure requirements are well understood and correctly implemented.
    • Maintain and groom the backlog of scraping tasks, helping prioritise based on business impact.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives around data sourcing and delivery.

Skills

    • At least 1 or 2 years working experience in a similar role.
    • Some experience working on web scraping, data extraction, or related data pipeline projects.
    • Familiarity with HTTP, HTML, REST APIs, and file-based data formats like CSV, Excel, and PDF.
    • Understanding of basic data privacy regulations and ethical data sourcing.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple requests in parallel.
    • A team player who enjoys cross-functional collaboration with product, data, and engineering teams.
    • (Bonus) Knowledge of Python, SQL, or web scraping tools such as Scrapy, BeautifulSoup, or similar.
