What You’ll Do
As the Associate General Counsel, you will be a pivotal legal advisor to the company, providing guidance on complex legal and regulatory issues that arise in the dynamic fields of healthcare technology and clinical trials. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product, sales, and operations, to address challenges related to contracts, compliance, and data privacy. Reporting to the CEO, this role will be instrumental in ensuring that Paradigm’s innovative platform operates within the boundaries of legal and regulatory frameworks while enabling its growth and mission-driven objectives.
You will tackle complex legal challenges, providing practical solutions that align with our business goals and the needs of the clinical research ecosystem. This includes:
- Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing a wide variety of business-critical agreements, including master services agreements, vendor agreements, licensing agreements, business associate agreements, data sharing agreements and other healthcare and technology contracts.
- Advising on data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and ensuring compliance with global and domestic privacy standards as they apply to our clinical trial platform.
- Supporting corporate governance initiatives and assisting in matters such as financings, partnerships, and strategic transactions.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to navigate regulatory landscapes and mitigate legal risks related to clinical trials, healthcare services, and technology transactions.
- Developing and refining internal policies and processes to align with legal and ethical standards while fostering innovation.
- Developing and maintaining standard agreement templates to ensure efficiency and consistency in contractual engagements.
- Liaising with outside legal counsel and consultants on subject-specific legal matters, such as corporate affairs, data privacy, healthcare compliance, information security, and regulatory matters.
Who You Are
We are seeking a talented and adaptable legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. You bring:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and membership in at least one state bar.
- 10 or more years of legal experience practicing in a law firm, in-house, or a combination of both, with previous in-house experience preferred but not required.
- Extensive experience independently drafting, reviewing, and negotiating healthcare and technology contracts, including master services agreements, vendor agreements, licensing agreements, business associate agreements, and data sharing agreements.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, with practical experience managing compliance and regulatory requirements when delivering products and services to customers.
- A solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to manage and set expectations with executive and peer level stakeholders around competing priorities and deliver practical, business-focused advice.
- Strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- A collaborative spirit, eager to work with colleagues across the organization to advance Paradigm’s mission and to address complex legal challenges.
