Analytics Lead

The Democratic National Committee’s Tech Team is seeking an Analytics Lead to head up our team of data analysts and lead the development of analytics data products and actionable strategic insights.

In this role, you will be a people and technical lead. You will be responsible for coaching and developing the analytics team and managing strategic analytics projects to completion. You will partner closely with our data Product Manager, Analytics Engineering Lead and the rest of our data team to produce reports and develop actionable insights to improve the efficacy of the DNC and our programs. From increasing dollars raised from grassroots donors to maximizing volunteer engagement to building templated reports for campaigns around the country, you will play a key role in improving strategy and operations for the DNC and the Democratic ecosystem at large.

About the Role:

    • We’re looking for someone who is as obsessive about data visualization and performant SQL queries as much as flipping states blue. We’re a tight-knit team tackling complex challenges across varied stakeholders and believe in collaborative problem-solving. If you’re excited by the thought of spending your days translating raw data into compelling narratives and actionable recommendations, from optimizing voter outreach to understanding fundraising effectiveness, you’ll thrive here.

    • Your leadership responsibilities will span:
    • Technical: You will serve as the technical lead for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the DNC’s core analytical outputs, including reporting tables, dashboards, and presentations. These products help DNC programs like Grassroots Fundraising and Voter Protection understand their constituents, measure their initiatives, and expand their impact. Whether it’s running an A/B test to refine our email marketing or measuring volunteer engagement, our analytics products are essential to continually improving our operations and reach.
    • People and Culture: You will be the people manager for the Data Analysts on our team, responsible for their coaching and development. Where the Product Manager will be responsible for the “what” of our work, you will be responsible for the “how” it’s executed technically. As a manager on the Tech team, we will look to you to advance a healthy, inclusive, and user-centric team culture.
    • Strategy: As an analytics leader for the ecosystem, we’ll look to you to contribute to the vision for how data insights can improve the effectiveness of Democratic candidates and state parties. You’ll work closely with the Product Manager to ensure the analytics team is delivering against the highest-priority needs and maintaining a high standard of quality and efficiency. You will also work with Analytics leadership across the ecosystem, from our sister committees to campaigns, to develop shared standards and methods to improve data quality.

About the Team

    • This is high-impact, mission-centered work: ideal for someone who’s energized by progressive tech and wants to build systems that make a difference.
    • We’re a fully remote team (since 2017) that values clarity over complexity, curiosity over ego, and sustainability over burnout. We believe good ideas can come from anywhere, that accountability and empathy can coexist, and that work should feel meaningful without consuming your whole life. Our team is unafraid to chart a path forward, even in the face of ambiguity.
    • In this role, you’ll be part of the Data team and report into our Director of Data and Analytics. You will be the people manager for our analytics team (currently two Senior Data Analysts) and a technical lead for our LABS team, our crossfunctional data team.

About You:

    • We don’t need candidates to check every box on this list. Think of these qualifications as a guide rather than a strict set of requirements. If you’re excited about the role and feel like you can thrive on our team, we want you to apply!
    • You’ve managed analytics or equivalent data humans, including technical mentorship, professional coaching and culture building
    • You are an expert SQL user, comfortable wrangling big data sets to extract meaning
    • You have strong data visualization and data storytelling skills and have experience working with data visualization tools like Looker (Studio and/or Enterprise), Tableau or Periscope to deliver dashboards
    • You’ve designed and run statistically sound experiments (e.g., A/B tests) to guide strategic decision-making
    • You have strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
    • You’re impact-oriented and understand the role data can play in strategic program planning; you think of analysis through the lens of the decisions it will inform, and are deeply focused on asking the right questions before you dive into the weeds of any particular analysis
    • You have worked in modern cloud data environments (GCP, BigQuery, Airflow, dbt, etc.)

You may also:

    • Have a strong understanding or experience with ETL pipelines and data transformation tools like dbt
    • Have experience in non-profit fundraising and/or modern marketing stacks and measurement
    • Have experience working with political data like state voter files, election results, or data on voter, volunteer, or donor engagement and/or the DNC’s data and analytics tools, including experience doing analysis in our BigQuery-based data warehouse (Phoenix) or exposure to political CRMs (e.g. VoteBuilder, NGP VAN, BSD)
    • Code comfortably in Python, R or another programming language, or can quickly learn new languages or tools to drive impact
    • Have experience working with vendors including relationship management, technical validation and budgetary oversight
    • Have experience working with/for major Democratic hard-side organizations including committees, campaigns, state parties or their soft-side equivalents
The salary for the Analytics Lead position is $120,000 on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends.  This is a remote position that can be based anywhere in the United States.
