Additive Applications Engineer

Description

Become a driving force in the future of naval manufacturing as our embedded Additive Manufacturing SME within the Navy’s Organic Industrial Base (OIB), where you will be instrumental in shaping AM adoption across shipyards, Regional Maintenance Centers (RMCs), and Trident Refit Facilities (TRFs). This is a unique opportunity to lead from the front lines, working directly with planners, engineers, and leaders on shop floors to pinpoint high-impact AM part candidates through analysis of legacy drawings, CAD models, and physical inspections. You will champion AM innovation by customizing advanced Phillips training programs to align with the specific workflows, systems, and readiness demands of Navy Organic Industrial Base(OIB) teams. Your expertise will be critical in designing and delivering bespoke AM training modules encompassing safety protocols, part screening methodologies, Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) from introductory to advanced levels, machine qualification processes, post-processing techniques, and Quality Management System (QMS) documentation.

As you establish a new standard for industrial AM education through the launch of custom curricula, you will elevate both the technical proficiency and mission-critical competence of our workforce. Collaboration will be key as you partner with the Navy Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AMCOE) to accelerate AM adoption, qualification, and long-term sustainment. Your ability to orchestrate a multi-site AM presence, seamlessly moving between facilities, will be essential in injecting momentum, capability, and confidence where it’s most needed. You will engineer AM breakthroughs that transcend individual successes, scaling them into enterprise-wide solutions that will define the trajectory of military manufacturing. Ultimately, you will fuel the operationalization of additive manufacturing, transforming opportunities into tangible outputs, concepts into deployable capabilities, and existing assets into long-lasting resources for our nation’s fleet. In this pivotal role, you will continuously partner with Phillips AM experts, refining tools, techniques, and strategies to not only stay at the forefront of the industry but to actively shape its future.
